Water Polo

If you are looking for something more than just swimming - why not try Water Polo?

No previous experience needed - any standard of swimmer can have a go!

Leander currently runs two water polo teams:
a Senior Men's Team and a Junior Team (Under 15 mixed).
Both teams compete mainly in the Notts ASA Water Polo League.
We welcome new players for both teams
The Senior Men's Team The Senior Team is one of the longest established in the Notts League having been a member of it since 1959. The League season runs from March to October and, with League and Cup games, gives about 24 matches a year. A few "friendlies" are also organised over the winter period.

There are two training sessions per week at Beechdale Baths:
Tuesdays 8:30 - 9:30pm
 Sundays 5:30 - 7:00pm

For those players wishing and able to play at a higher level we have an arrangement with Nottingham Water polo team that Leander players can join with them to play in the Midland League (currently Division 1).

To maintain their fitness Senior team members are encouraged to join with the Leander "Masters" swimming training for an hour on another night.

The Junior Team
The Junior Team plays in monthly League tournaments, at weekends between January and June. As the players are under 16, ASA laws allow boys and girls to play in the same team (as with the other teams in the League).
We have had a team in the League since it was re-formed in 2006.
Training sessions are also at Beechdale baths, on Sundays 5:30 - 6:30pm.
Additional swimming training is available at several club training sessions.
Also we are currently trying to set up a "mini-polo" session for 8 - 11 year olds in the small bath at Beechdale on Sundays, 5:30 - 6:10pm.

Membership Fees
Seniors
pay the full Leander membership, which entitles them to swim or play polo at appropriate club sessions (up to six times per week).
Juniors attending only the water polo session pay a reduced fee (unless they also want to join the swimming training).
