Report from Colwick Park Open Water Championship held on a very rainy
Sunday 17th May. 9 Leander swimmers entered the event competing in the 2k and 4K freestyle and
2K breaststroke. Conventional swimsuits only -water @ 14 degrees. 4 of our swimmers managed to get in the top 3 of their events. Helen Gorman 2nd place in 4K Senior Ladies Freestyle Wayne Stott 2nd place in 4K Senior Men’s Freestyle Grace Hobbs (not a Masters swimmer but definitely deserves a mention) 2nd
place in 2K Junior Ladies Freestyle Maxine Robbins 1st place in 2K Senior Ladies Breaststroke in a new course
record (smashing the old record by over 7 minutes!) Well done to all who took part. Hope you didn’t shiver for too long
afterwards. Maxine
Records
Broken by Masters at the National Masters Event at the end of October, four East
Midlands relay records. Mens
72+ Freestyle Relay Individual
records were broken by: Mike
Brett 40-44 group with a time of 56.55 in the 100 Freestyle. Matthew
Driscoll 35-39 group with a time of 17.17.72 for the 1500 Freestyle.
